Project : renovation
Surface : 150 sq
From preliminary design phases
T.Bookstore is one the oldest store in Madagascar. In facing serious competition, the owner wanted a complete change. He also wanted new spaces like a children’s area, a lounge coffee, an exhibition area.
The building was originally a warehouse of storage with a ground floor is now divided into administrative offices, logistic zone and the bookshop. The level R+1 which situated above the sell area, was only used to store old furnitures.
For this project, I redesign completly the existing spaces by :
- Proposing new partition of the existing spaces
- Enlarging the space R0 of the bookstore
- Creating a new passage zone for the level R+1
- Fitting out R+1 to settle a lounge coffee, a new logistic room and toilet
GROUND FLOOR : NEW CHILDREN’S AREA / NEW ENTRANCE
The children’s area was voluntarily designed on the ground floor. A mix of many colours and materials were chosen. It awakes their curiosity and interest by exciting theirs senses of touching, looking.
GROUND FLOOR : NEW STAIRS AND SPACES
The main entrance allows the identification of new spaces. This area is divided such as the exhibition zone (at the left), the periodical space and the bookstore. The staircase is voluntarily places in central position to show to new passage.
THE FIRST LEVEL : LOUNGE COFFEE, KITCHEN AND TERRACE
The coffee has been located on the first floor so that a small kitchen, a counter and seatings could be instaled. I propose to the client to create a new logistic space and new bathroom for visitors.
